Talk:List of digital camera brands

Wikipedia

Categorize?

It would be better to divide the list into 1) Consumer brands, 2) Professional brands, and 3) Webcam brands. A fourth category, digital camcorders that can take still shots can be included, but may be worthy of its own list. Another possible sublisting is camera phones. Currently, users wouldn't know that JVC's models are actually digital camcorders, not ones that are marketed as digital cameras.

I removed JVC. Digital camcorders should not be listed here. - Slo-mo 09:54, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

This is my first writing on Wikipédia and I noticed hasselblad was missing — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.205.73.123 (talk) 14:30, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Cameras in phones

Although not just a camera, most cell phones have cameras built-in. And probably the majority of all digital photos taken around the world are with those cell phone cameras.

Shouldn't they be listed on this page? RSStockdale (talk) 14:07, 9 August 2025 (UTC)

I assume the intent here has been to include only stand-alone cameras. I would tend to agree with that as a goal, as we now live in an era where (almost) every phone has a camera, and you also open yourself up to many other lists of devices with cameras (Nintendo DSi, for example). Such a list would arguably be more “complete”, but at the cost of losing focus.  HTGS (talk) 00:00, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
I did think though, how many of these phone cameras are made by the brand who sells them? Probably zero, I would guess. In a sense they would be covered by the listed manufacturers here anyway. But it might be worth exploring who makes the cameras sold by our list of brands, and noting that somewhere, as I doubt there are as many manufacturers as brands are listed. Off-topic, but food for thought.  HTGS (talk) 00:03, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
