Decoy commander?
According to the latest news quoting a companion of Yahiya Sinwar currently in Jordan, Sinwar has named "decoy commanders" ahead of the 7 Oct. attack in order to focus the IDF's attention during the easily predictable military reaction, on disposable Hamas members, rather than his actual chief operatives. Also, he seems to have propagated the red herring of prominent, but partially incapacitated and meanwhile less central figure, Mohammed Deif, being the head of the Qassam Brigades, while in fact it is his brother, Muhammad Sinwar, who runs the militia. Who knows how senior Issa actually is... Arminden (talk) 19:05, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
Possible killing
I have reverted these IP edits per WP:ARBECR. Also, Wikipedia is not a news service. No need to rush. Wait for the reports to settle down. There are currently conflicting reports. If you are not an extended confirmed user, make an edit request. This article is unambiguously within scope of the ARBECR restrictions. Sean.hoyland (talk) 11:23, 11 March 2024 (UTC)

Marwan Issa was a freedom fighter. Nometalgear (talk) 16:47, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
New picture
Idf released a new picture following their confirmation of his death https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/idf-confirms-top-hamas-commander-marwan-issa-killed-in-airstrike-earlier-this-month/ Kwabat5 (talk) 20:22, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
Merge proposal
Merge Assassination of Marwan Issa into Marwan Issa. The content is WP:REDUNDANT and the event is not WP:LASTING. The only additional material from the assassination page is analysts commenting on how the assassination was a flash in the pan in a broader war. Per WP:PAGEDECIDE, it doesn't make sense to have a separate article. Longhornsg (talk) 02:15, 4 December 2025 (UTC)
- Support, and if it weren't the most severe CTOP I'd consider doing it boldly because it seems like an obvious one. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 🛸 22:35, 13 December 2025 (UTC)
