Should we add Layer 8?

Reverse order from lowest level to highest level, top to bottom

What's the motivation behind putting the highest level (application layer) at the top instead of the lowest level (physical layer)? Should the order be reversed? BthompsonHV 17:38, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

Inclusion of IP-suite protocols

The layering of the Internet Protocol suite is often contrasted with the OSI model. Are there any strong sources (preferably university textbooks) backing this classification of non-OSI protocols (mainly ones from the IP suite) into the OSI layers? ~2025-40167-37 (talk) 19:20, 13 December 2025 (UTC)
