Sally Hemmings
The problem with the content as is that it ignores historical context. In the colonial era, the age of consent went as low as 7. 14 was the average. The idea that Sally couldn't consent because she was 16 is thus very ahistorical and historians point this out when it's brought up.
The point about her "ability to consent as a slave" is also very arbritary. It implies her being a slave makes her unable to romantically desire her master, or that any desire she'd have for him is invalid as a result of being a slave.
Again, look at what historians like John Boles and Anette Gordon Reed have to say about this topic and you'll see why the current writting is extremely arbitrary and ahistorical.

- The sources in the article discuss her ability to consent as a slave. As the page is a good article, every statement in the page is backed up by reliable sources. If your quarrel is with that sentence, then discuss it with Joshua Rothman, who mentioned her ability to consent as a slave and whose source is cited for that statement, not me. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 00:54, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
