General comments
Maybe parts of north Clondalkin, i.e. Ronanstown, Quarrayvale, etc have some poverty but in general, I think Clondalkin is quite prosperous at the moment. Crime is no worse than anywhere in the city of Dublin.
I love how the petshop is listed as a main attraction. Who put that in there? 89.100.51.85 02:50, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Toastmasters
I have removed some of the Toastmaster information because it is blatant advertising. If people are interested in knowing more about the club they will click on the link and the club's website should have all the details. I'm not against Toasties, I've been a member for a few years, but Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Roaming27 10:39, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yes it certainly was blatant advertising. I've rewritten it some more, it should be NPOV now. --Hibernian 16:06, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Local clubs
This needs a bit of a clean-up. Some of it is not really notable and some of it is advertising. I'll try and make some time to re-word some of it. If anyone wishes to discuss any issues please post here, thanks. Roaming27 10:43, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
The Round Tower
I'd say put more in about the Round Tower, the GAA club of the same name and the Gaelscoil, since the latter 2 are the first in Ireland.
- Darn tootin'! I found a picture here http://media.photobucket.com/image/clondalkin%20round%20tower/hutton001/ClondalkinRoundTower.jpgFile:Http://media.photobucket.com/image/clondalkin round tower/hutton001/ClondalkinRoundTower.jpg
I noticed the article on Round Towers doesn't link here. We've one of the best examples in the world so I reckon it deserves a mention.89.100.38.132 (talk) 20:42, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Edit
I have deleted Transport and added it into today. I am wondering should I add a map of the area. Any help and comments welcome.

Some verification is needed for the comment unemployment is higher in North Clondalkin. I will leave it in for now

1641 Rebellion
Saying that the "native Irish" rose up against the "British" at this point in history is a bit over-simplistic. The Irish at this point would have included Norse descendants and various people from Great Britain and elsewhere, and not all of them rebelled. I'll have to go back to the history books for a better way of explaining it, but if anyone has a good idea in the meantime, go ahead.
Pertusaria (talk) 20:37, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
I've changed it to be a bit more precise. I still want to tidy up the paragraph - it wasn't British occupation, as the Act of Union hadn't occurred yet; I don't remember exactly what they were rebelling against.
The change I've made can be attributed to Norman Davies' "The Isles: a history", but I don't want to add it in yet in case it gives the false impression that the reference supports the whole sentence, which Davies would not agree with.
Pertusaria (talk) 08:51, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Drat, I meant Norman Davies above, where I previously posted Norman Jeffries. My apologies to the author and to anyone who was misled.
Pertusaria (talk) 15:15, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I finished up the general material on 1641 and put in the references. I've no idea about Clondalkin's role in the rebellion, so I can't help with that reference.

Education
The section on education claims that schools in Clondalkin are from "many denominations". I strongly suspect that they are only from Roman Catholic and Anglican (Church of Ireland) denominations, but I may be wrong. Does anyone have an example of one which is of a different denomination?

"southwestern outer suburb" or "suburban village"
As discussed at WikiProject Ireland "Describing Dublin's suburban/commuter towns" (and the recent related move discussion and indeed at Talk:Adamstown, Talk:Chapelizod, Talk:Swords and elsewhere) there has recently been some discussion on how to describe Dublin's suburban/commuter towns and villages. Including Clondalkin. The outcome of which, generally, was to reflect what the verifiable/reliable sources state. As the source currently supporting the lead, the South Dublin County Council "Clondalkin Framework Plan" (2011), describes it as "a suburban village 10 km West of Dublin City", then that is what we use in the lead. If there are sources which describe it as a "southwestern outer suburb", then please provide them. Personally I can find no sources, other than mirrors, which use this term. I want to add the fact that Clondalkin is a neighbourhood with a village centre in Dublin, basically a suburb with a village core, is that okay. 31.187.2.26 (talk) 16:46, 22 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi. Not without references to support/justify the proposed change. Also see see WP:FRESHSTART (editing from multiple IPs in an attempt to evade sanctions doesn't fall under FRESHSTART, and edit requests made in this manner are highly unlikely to be actioned). I would like to edit the article because I want to add a fact that Clondalkin is a suburb with a village centre to the west of Dublin and not a suburban village in County Dublin by itself. Link: https://ireland-dublin.com/clondalkin-village-dublin-22/ 31.187.2.26 (talk) 21:00, 22 August 2025 (UTC)
Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. The distinction you are attempting to draw between a "suburb with a village centre to the west of Dublin" and "a suburban village in County Dublin by itself" is not clear. Please specify exactly how the current text of the article should be changed. Day Creature (talk) 14:32, 23 August 2025 (UTC)

I want to put an edit request in to show that Clondalkin is a suburb of Dublin in Ireland, not just County Dublin, with a village core in between, here is the real text and the settlement type for the infobox, please approve this request please: Clondalkin (Irish: Cluain Dolcáin, meaning 'pasture of Dolcán')[1] is a southwestern outer suburb of Dublin, Ireland, approximately 10 km (6 mi) west of Dublin city centre.[2] It is within the administrative jurisdiction of South Dublin County Council. It is located near Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot, Walkinstown, Tallaght and Lucan. Here is the link to show that Clondalkin is a suburb with a village core: https://ireland-dublin.com/clondalkin-village-dublin-22/ 109.255.146.0 (talk) 16:10, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit semi-protected}}template. Per previous posts on the talk page, a consensus has already been established regarding how to refer to Clondalkin in the lead section, and any changes to this descriptor will require a new consensus.
