Speedy deletion nomination of Roel Funcken

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Roel Funcken requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. What was the assertion of significance? Article claimed they had published their music but nothing about charting. The closest I can see is that they were a supporting act at some point but thats really a bit thin to be an assertion of significance.©Geni (talk) 00:12, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Hi Aemijork! I noticed that you recently made an edit at Genius Loci Weimar and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. On Wikipedia, "minor edit" refers only to superficial edits that could never be disputed, such as fixing typos or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not minor, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. - Otherwise (Talk?) 11:16, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for adding this biography. It looks like you translated it from the German version? Even though you created both the German and English pages, translations from different language Wikipedias do need to attribute the original, especially in cases like this where a few different editors have contributed to the German article. There's an explanation at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia § Translating from other language Wikimedia projects and I have added this attribution to the edit history.
A couple of other notes on translating between Wikipedias: each language Wikipedia has its own local policies regarding issues like Verifiability. On the English Wikipedia we favour secondary sources over primary sources, so a biography of an academic and author would benefit from more references like scholarly responses to his work, book reviews, and even news articles. We also have our own guidelines on citation styles which have evolved from Anglo-American scholarly citations. Many of us find the citation templates helpful for writing citations in a standard format.
Finally, I couldn't access this YouTube video as it is private. Do you have an accessible source for his cycling achievements? ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · email · global) 13:42, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
