User Names Report
I am new to Wikipedia editing: Anno7 just reported my username (just created): Can we talk about it? AIethics was already taken - I don't mind changing it if its is thought promotional but please let me know how such things are evaluated and when so that I can change it if necessary. Is it blocked until I change it? Can I just change the user name and keep the content of the page. I wish that whoever reported this could have discussed the issues with me first - otherwise it's just discouraging. AIethics.ai (talk) 13:22, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @AIethics.ai. Because your username blatantly violates the username policy, this issue needs to be handled at WP:UAA. Whether or not you get blocked depends on the administrator's decision. But even if you are blocked, don't worry; just follow the administrator's instructions to get unblocked (including changing your username). Your page will not be deleted unless it meets one of the speedy deletion criteria. Annh07 (talk) 14:02, 9 January 2026 (UTC)

- Thanks for doing that. Make sure you disclose your conflict of interest on your user page. Follow the instructions on your talk page or here, WP:DISCLOSE.
- Additionally, you need to change your username because it violates the username policy; specifically, your current username is promotional and does not represent you as an individual person.
