FAC review: Sursock Bronze

Hey buddy, I wanted to ask, if you happen to have a moment, whether you might be willing to review the Featured Article nomination for Sursock bronze. The article focuses on a Roman-era artifact with ties to older semitic beliefs. I would greatly appreciate any comments or insight you might be willing to share. el.ziade (talkallam) 15:09, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

@Elias Ziade: great to hear from you, and too see another excellent article. Great work on a very interesting subject.
I won’t have time to review in detail – my editing has been sporadic in recent months, as RL is busy.
My main comment relates to the statement: The Sursock bronze illustrates the syncretism and fusion of Canaanite, Greek, and Roman elements. This core piece of the article would benefit from adding some superlative statements – i.e. it is the "only", the "most studied", the "most famous" or whatever it is that makes this artefact so important. In other words, to find and then highlight the best short description of its importance to human knowledge.
Onceinawhile (talk) 13:58, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
Great to hear from you too, and I hope all is well IRL. Thank you for the thoughtful input. I’ll look into sharpening that core statement as you suggested. I really hope you’ll find the time for Wikipedia again soon; your presence here always adds a sense of depth and knowledge that makes me want to come back too. el.ziade (talkallam) 14:17, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

Annoying request

Hello old friend,

I saw that you are quite good at coding things and wondered if you could make this List of Nabataean kings into a template to add to the articles of the different kings. Or if you have another idea about how to link them. Perhaps we should consider adding infoboxes to each kings' page instead, indicating the predecessor and successor? Thinking out loud right now. Hope you are well. Tiamut (talk) 20:48, 23 December 2025 (UTC)

@Tiamut: great to hear from you – welcome back again!
Does the below work?
Onceinawhile (talk) 04:14, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
This is quite perfect, and beyond my expectations. Thank you so much! Tiamut (talk) 06:38, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
Going to be demanding and ask if there is a way to make a sidebar version. Would like to have that option so that the info is more prominent. It would be good at Obodas I for example, to have it in the Life section, where his predecessor is mentioned, to give context to which point in the dynasty he emerged. Tiamut (talk) 08:10, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
@Tiamut: Do you have a precedent sidebar from another article in mind?
The version above was very quick to make – all I did was copy and paste the table from the list of Nabataean kings article you shared into an AI, and then copy and pasted this example: Template:Islamic dynasties in Arabian Peninsula into the same and asked it to make an equivalent navbox.
Onceinawhile (talk) 12:16, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
Don't see an exact match in type of content, but does the coding here help Template:Historical Arab states and dynasties? Tiamut (talk) 14:40, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
I can try to do it though if its troublesome for you. No rush. And Merry Christmas or Happy Solstice or Yalda or whatever holiday you may be celebrating this season. Tiamut (talk) 14:42, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
Same to you Tiamut. I am happy to do it, but maybe worth you trying with AI first? It is really impressive and worth learning. Onceinawhile (talk) 15:02, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

Holiday wishes and a happy new year!

Emigration of Christians from Israel and Palestine

Hi, you didn't respond to my post to the talk page on 6 January. At the time I found that almost 50% of the prose came from the older article, which is more than 20%. TSventon (talk) 23:42, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

Hi @TSventon: thanks for the prod, and apologies for taking time to reply. I had set a reminder to respond – I just wanted to see how the current edits from another editor settled first.
As an aside, I have appreciated your comments greatly, particularly the way you have made them on the talk page so as not to add complexity to the DYK nomination page.
On the %s below, it is definitely much closer to 20% now, and I could move it below 20% quickly by consensing some repetitive points. I added it all in because your earlier comment had suggested you liked the content on that page, so I would just need to do it carefully to ensure retention of the core information when cutting it down.
What I really want to do when I have more time is create historical population tables for the regions (today’s Israel and Palestine separately) and particularly the major historical Christian population areas within each. This isn’t for the DYK, but will make for interesting reading.
