Disambiguation link notification for April 28
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Man (Aloe Blacc song), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Julian Williams. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Your submission at Articles for creation: The Paradox (band) (August 4)

- Promotional tone, editorializing and other words to watch
- Vague, generic, and speculative statements extrapolated from similar subjects
- Essay-like writing
- Hallucinations (plausible-sounding, but false information) and non-existent references
- Close paraphrasing
- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:The Paradox (band) and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.
- If you need any assistance, or have experienced any untoward behavior associated with this submission, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk, on the reviewer's talk page or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
- Yes I partially used ChatGPT, but what I did was write the first draft of the article myself and wasn't satisfied so I took the word doc and put it in ChatGPT to help make it look better than my "blah" draft. As you can see this is still a work in progress. I was also hoping that if this article was accepted, other people would be willing to help as much as possible. Thanks for reading.YachtSee (talk) 22:13, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Pythoncoder: Please understand my situation, I was wanting to have other people help as well because that's what I feel like Wikipedia is all about. YachtSee (talk) 23:05, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
- I understand that you want your draft to look better, but as someone who's reviewed a lot of AI-generated drafts, I would always rather read a draft that's human-generated and has unpolished writing or typos, over one that ChatGPT wrote. Contrary to what all the media hysteria would have you believe about how LLMs are "the future", ChatGPT is terrible at many basic tasks, including writing Wikipedia articles. It doesn't know how to structure an encyclopedia article (it tends to write them like essays), it constantly breaks our neutrality and style guidelines, and it can even fabricate references. As it stands right now, the use of ChatGPT to write Wikipedia articles is technically still allowed, but it's your responsibility to review any chatbot writing you submit to Wikipedia under your name. LLM-generated pages that were clearly submitted without human review can be deleted under CSD G15. —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 23:52, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Pythoncoder: Okay, I'll re-write it but give me a couple days. Thanks. YachtSee (talk) 00:03, 6 August 2025 (UTC)

@Pythoncoder: I read through the whole draft and it does not seem like an advertisement to me. This time I looked at other Wikipedia band pages such as Blink-182 and Bon Jovi and took influence from the wording and they don't seem like advertisements at all. Can you please point exactly to the draft where it sounds like advertising?--YachtSee (talk) 22:01, 30 August 2025 (UTC)
- First of all, do you have a conflict of interest with regard to the band? Writing about subjects where you have a conflict of interest is discouraged because it can often be difficult to write about subjects you’re closely connected to. If you are being paid to edit this page, Wikipedia policy requires you to disclose that. —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 23:50, 30 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Pythoncoder:I like this band, and they have been blowing up everywhere. I don't know if that counts as conflict of interest but let me know if it does because it doesn't say. Also I am not being paid to make this page, this was all my idea and I am in no way connected to the band other than being a fan. Also I made the wording as neutral as possible. I just want to know where specifically it "reads more like an advertisement", that's all I'm asking, a simple note saying where it needs to be fixed will help a lot. Thanks YachtSee (talk) 00:01, 31 August 2025 (UTC)

- @YachtSee You still have a bunch of sources with "source=chatgpt" in the URL, and some evidence of chatgpt generated words (like "rooted"). qcne (talk) 10:25, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Qcne thank you for actually pointing stuff out and saying where it needs improvement. I fixed the article's sources and I admit ChatGPT was ONLY used for formatting and to help with a list of sources. After the first time I was told about the whole ChatGPT thing I went and took influence from other Wikipedia articles with wording such as Bon Jovi, Green Day, Blink-182, and U2 where I was influenced by the wording to reword a lot of the article. Another user has still neglected to tell me where it "reads like an advertisement" and when I politely asked him, he just answered my question with another question instead of saying "this specific section is what reads like an advertisement". I'm wanting this article to work because I've witnessed them on Instagram and TikTok how they've grown as a band. In my opinion I think they're notable because they're opening for All Time Low on tour soon and were on the Warped Tour which means that they're deserving of an article. I'll still keep fixing it but I need to find a way for people to see this article and say "hey, I wanna help out with this article and make it even better". YachtSee (talk) 19:26, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- A few things that stand out to me as promotional:
- - Known for their sound and on-stage banter as well as their humor < neither source after this sentence mentions "humour" or "banter". You should only include statements if they can be backed up by a reliable source or if you are directly quoting a source.
- - The Paradox has quickly gained recognition in the pop-punk scene < who says they quickly gained recognition?
- - Their unique perspective and sound < who says it's a unique perspective and sound?
- - yet infused with a modern twist. Their sound embodies themes of rebellion, nostalgia, and youthful energy. The band's mantra, "Pop Punk isn’t dead!" shows their commitment to the genre's revival < this entire bit is just marketing and needs to be removed.
- Remember: an article on Wikipedia only summarises in a descriptive way what reliable, published sources state about the topic. Nothing more. Every statement in the draft must also be verified in that source.
- I would recommend reading Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Words to watch, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.
- Hope that helps- let me know if you have any more questions? qcne (talk) 19:50, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Qcne Thank you for giving examples. I've went ahead and removed them to up the chance of making it accepted. YachtSee (talk) 19:56, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- Great. Now, out of your sources - which three (and only three!) are the strongest? By strongest they each need to be:
- - Independent of the band (not interviews, PR statements, from their own website etc)
- - From reliable mainstream sources (not random music blogs by fans, or social media)
- - Devote significant critical analysis/review/coverage/discussion to the band (not just a single credit, or listing). qcne (talk) 19:58, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Qcne Would you be insulted if I asked which ones are the strongest? YachtSee (talk) 20:02, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- Well, that's what I am asking you, as the author of the draft, to decide. When writing articles for Wikipedia you should be focusing on finding sources that meet those three criteria anyway (a simple version you can refer back to is at Wikipedia:42). So, hopefully, you have a rough idea which out of your 18 sources are particularly the best and meet those critiera.
- If you let me know them, I can take a look, and then let you know my thoughts. qcne (talk) 20:06, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
