Template:AfC decline
Hi, your "dark mode fix" to the template above seems to have messed up the light mode color. It's no big deal, but the change is instantly recognizable to any editor who spends time at AfC, so I recommend fixing it or reverting the edit. Thanks for the fix, though. GoldRomean (talk) 23:37, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, of course I don't expect instant replies but I've temporarily reverted your change. Especially since there are dozens of articles being reviewed right now due to the AfC drive, I was thinking we could work things out in a sandbox before applying anyway to ensure that everything looks good.
- Or maybe this is a silly argument over the specific shade of yellow on a template. If so, oops, sorry. GoldRomean (talk) 01:41, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- (Note: I was bold and did the same thing to Template:AfC accept.) GoldRomean (talk) 01:42, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- @GoldRomean: yeah fair enough, I was debating whether to use background-color-content-removed or background-coolor-warning-subtle. I do think we can use background-color-warning-subtle, which is the shade Template:Uw-block was changed to. Also I think the AfC accept colour is good. Thoughts on Template:AfC decline/sandbox? —Matrix(!) ping onewhen replying {u - t? -

Orphaned non-free image File:Strawberry shortcake 2009.png

Thanks for uploading File:Strawberry shortcake 2009.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of non-free use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:34, 17 June 2025 (UTC)
A kitten for you!

Thank you for that dark mode fix on those AfC templates! As you can probably tell, I’m a light mode user but I did use dark mode the other day and the old templates were blinding :D.

Temporary account IP viewer granted

Hello, Matrix. Per your request, your account has been granted temporary account IP viewer rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:
- You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
- Access should not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).
It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:
- When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
- Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
- Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with an IP address or CIDR range.
Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. Happy editing! voorts (talk/contributions) 20:51, 3 August 2025 (UTC)
Question from Anarchiteuthis (18:10, 5 August 2025)
I made an account because I stumbled across this wild article, badly translated from Greek, full of nationalist conspiratorial nonsense. I don't know what to do about it. Like, this was useful for my research to know that this is out there, but wikipedia is supposed to have higher standards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazaros_Tsamis --Anarchiteuthis (talk) 18:10, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Anarchiteuthis: Firstly, if you know Greek you could correct the translation from el:Λάζαρος Τσάμης where it is obvious the machine/bad human translation went wrong. However, I wouldn't advise doing that, since the Greek version is tagged with having original research issues and an editor seems to have a COI there. Instead, if you would like to improve the article, focus on verifying claims (and removing them when the can't be verified), and adding reliable sources. If you need help with this, just let me know. —Matrix(!) ping onewhen replying {u - t? -
uselessc} 18:16, 5 August 2025 (UTC)- I don't know Greek and the whole thing is above my pay grade. I was just hoping I could flag this for the grownups in charge. Anarchiteuthis (talk) 18:29, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Anarchiteuthis: fair enough. I've added the original research tag, but Wikipedia is collaborative, so there's no "grownups in charge" (just a bunch of volunteers like me). Feel free to edit the article if you want, but no compulsion. —Matrix(!) ping onewhen replying {u - t? -

Question from Floriz8 (18:36, 8 August 2025)
Facial composite—file(image)in article about maniac in English language Wikipedia!
Hello, here– Александр Юрьевич Сергов present facial composite/file/image ( facial composite / file / image ): https://ru.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A4%D0%B0%D0%B9%D0%BB:Chernigovskiy-maniac.jpg#mw-jump-to-license ,but something in the article in the English language Wikipedia — Oleksandr Sergov , where it is written about this same maniac–I can't add the same fascial composite!!!!!!!
So, how to put this fascial composite- https://ru.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A4%D0%B0%D0%B9%D0%BB:Chernigovskiy-maniac.jpg#mw-jump-to-license here here: Oleksandr Sergov ???????
If anything, the word "Файл" is translated from Russian language into English language as "File",as another option, here it could be, so to speak, an tag "Image".
Sorry, but I'm from Ukraine (If you are interested, then look at my IP-address and it confirms that I am from Ukraine)and I only know Ukrainian language and Russian language well, and English language very, very poorly, so I translated it all using service — Google Translate ....... 91.217.66.210 (talk) 18:50, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

- Hm, it changed after I commented on it. You don't have to put "ping me when you reply" in the signature. In your preferences you can check the "Automatically subscribe to topics" option in the Editing tab. Polygnotus (talk) 05:37, 12 August 2025 (UTC)

Question from Late Past Night (18:25, 12 August 2025)
Hello, how do I save a article I'm working on to come back to it later (brand new here sorry) --Late Past Night (talk) 18:25, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Late Past Night: no worries, if the title (which is the big heading on the top left) of what you are working on starts with "Draft:" or "User:Late Past Night" you can just click "Publish changes". Otherwise, go here, enter the name of the article, and copy and paste all the stuff inside. Question from Rona kelvin on University of Oxford (00:11, 15 August 2025)
Can I get scholarship here --Rona kelvin (talk) 00:11, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Rona kelvin:
- If you're talking about University of Oxford, you might have to go through UCAS or contact them. Wikipedia isn't the place.
- If you're talking about Wikimania scholarships, Wikimania happened a week ago, the scholarships for the next one will open in a few months probably. —Matrix ping mewhen u reply (t? - c) 08:05, 15 August 2025 (UTC)

Question from Grahamokay (20:37, 21 August 2025)
Hi, I just did my first edit about a subject I'm passionate about, if you have time could you have a look and let me know if the changes were fairly made? Thanks ! --Grahamokay (talk) 20:37, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Grahamokay: I'm not an expert on the topic, but from a first glace, everything looks well-sourced and you've explained your edit in the edit summary, so that's good. If you want a more thorough analysis, in about 12-24 hours editors should make comments on the talk page. If this doesn't happen, you could notify a relevant WikiProject for review (you can ask for help with this). Cheers, —Matrix ping mewhen u reply (t? - c) 20:55, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
- Appreciate it, thanks! Grahamokay (talk) 02:46, 22 August 2025 (UTC)
GraphBot
Hi there, I realized you were creating different sandboxes everytime you need to test a graph that graphbot can't port. I've found the issue and fixed the bug; you can just use one sandbox now :). Also please let me know if there are any other similar annoyances that occur.

- @Matrix I've restarted it, let me know if it crashes again. I'll see if there is a deeper root-cause or if that was a fluke. GalStar (talk) (contribs) 17:17, 25 August 2025 (UTC)

Question from MixmeisterD (12:46, 26 August 2025)
Hi there. I am trying to put my business listing on Wikipedia although unsure how to do it. I thought I was following the guidelines. I also understand it is best not to write it yourself although I have no one else. I am not trying to use this as web space for any advertising, only an informational page on my company. I felt the links other than the ones that reflect, give evidence to the time my business has been active, that our local news paper, Dunn and Bradstreet etc. would have been credible sources. Along with media coverage, proof of my writings not only from my website but as mentioned in the local news here. I am trying to write as neutral as possible. More a presence of what my company is, with a brief history and not more. can you please help me through this? I don't know whether I used the correct avenue to reach you so I am trying here. My apologies if I have reached you more than once. Thank you. --MixmeisterD 12:46, 26 August 2025 (UTC)
